Wedding Tip Wednesday

We stumbled across this great tutorial for burlap boutonnieres a few weeks ago!
Source
I love this! The buttons and ribbon really tie off the whole look. Feathers are big right now and I think the best part about this boutonniere is that you wouldn't have to worry about a flower wilting in the summer heat! You can find this tutorial here.

Are you taking on any DIY projects for your wedding? We'd love to see them!!

Wedding Tip Wednesday: Budgeting Tips

Planning a wedding can be stressful, but having a budget can help ease the stress. As a couple, the first thing that should be done is deciding on a budget. Having a ballpark budget in mind will help with the decision making process when deciding on locations, photographers, DJ’s, lighting, etc. The couple should also, consider what is most important to them. For some photography is most important, whereas some couples may be more concerned with music, this is helpful because then you know what area you may want to splurge on and what areas you are willing to cut back on to keep everything within budget.

The Knot is a wonderful resource and has a budgeting tool. Another great resource is Project Wedding they, also, have a budgeting tool. It’s definitely a great idea to keep track of all your spending and these resources are a great way to do so.
Shop around! Meet with a few of each type of vendor to make sure you are getting the most for your money. Try not to impulse buy either; get all the information and then sit down and talk it over, double checking that you’re 100% sure on everything you’re paying for. It’s easy to get caught up in the hype of the event; after all it is your wedding, but take a step back and think about it before just jumping into any contract.

Some other budgeting tips can include:
  • Do-It-Yourself – Anything DIY can save you money, just take into consideration your time constraints.
  • Cut back on floral centerpieces. Instead of having florals on all your guest tables, you can use candles of varying heights or something to that effect
  • Instead of using real flowers, you could use fake flowers for your bouquets and/or centerpieces
  • Getting married on a Friday or Sunday – most venues offer a discounted rate
  • Getting married on “off season” (between January through March) – a lot of vendors as well as venues offer discounts during those months
  • Buffet style reception can help cut costs
  • Venues that allow you to bring in your own alcohol can often help with your budget
  • Renting your bridal gown/or buying a used one can reduce costs – Sources like Craigslist and WeddingBee classifieds often have brides selling bridal gowns in almost new condition
  • Having fake layers on your wedding cake. You can have extra sheet cakes in the back that can be cut, saving money that way
Just remember it’s okay to spend a little more on things that are important to you, you don’t want to look back on your wedding day with any regrets; just shop around and make sure you’re getting the most bang for your buck. There are always areas that aren’t as important to a couple, so you can always cut back in those places in order to make up the difference.

Jen and Tony's Wedding

Jen and Tony were married in October at The Loft at Limerick Golf Club. The girls started their day with Hair by Meghan and makeup done by Dylan Michael Cosmetics, everyone looked great! Jen and Tony had a color scheme of burgundy, pale yellow and grey to match their invitations which had a grey border and swirls. The personal flowers, provided by Whimsical Welcomes, matched perfectly to this color scheme! The centerpieces were DIY with lanterns and votive candles and set a romantic feel to the tables. B&B Light and Sound was the DJ for the night and had all of the guests on the dancefloor.  Christy with Martin's Video was on hand to capture all of it on film and we've got the video clip to prove it here! Instead of a tradtional guestbook, guests signed quilting squares which will be turned into a quilt! Such a fun and unique idea! Their delicious cake was created by a family friend. A big thank you to Sarah Schulte Photography for the wonderful images below! She really took advantage of the beautiful grounds at Limerick Golf Club!

Congratulations Jen and Tony!
