Richard Avedon Photography
Posted by admin
on 1:45 PM
Last Monday, one of my close friends recreated a Richard Avedon photo shoot for a school photo project. Richard Avedon is a fantastic photographer, and one of my friend's "Photo Idols"! She finally sent me the pictures after editing them, and I love them!
I'm only going to post some these 2 (the ones that aren't so "personal" because I'm trying to be more web-safe in posting pictures of myself!), but it was so much fun in this photo shoot. I got to wear my Grace Kelly/Betty Draper dress, which I was ecstatic about!
Have a great day, y'all!

Success!!

I have some very good news. Next week is Homecoming...and one of the themed days is "1960's"!!!! I'm so happy because now I can successfully be BETTY DRAPER! My wish has come true!!!
So, for this extravagant day, I plan to wear this early 60's-esque dress that I found over the summer!
I'm so excited to wear this! I actually wore it on Monday for a photo project with one of my friends, but I get to go all out in my "Grace Kelly dress" (that's what I call it) at school!
Also, one of the other themed days is "Jungle", and I'm going to be a flamingo! That's going to be a lot of fun, actually...because I get to wear all pink!
Here's my idea.
Of course, I will be dressed in Lilly! I might find a pink boa to go with this, and I also will probably have a pink headband/ponytail bow, but I'M SO EXCITED!
For all the high schoolers who read this blog -- what are y'all doing for homecoming? Let me know!

Betty Draper

Homecoming for my school is right around the corner, and there has not been any official decisions as to what the themes are going to be for spirit week. There are rumors floating around that the Homecoming Dance theme is "Lady Gaga: Monster Ball" (which I actually LOVE), but there is always 1 day in that week that is dedicated to each individual grade. My goal is to have our grade be famous TV characters....so I can be Betty Draper. For the past two years we have had ridiculous themes (Medieval and Zombies...my grade is not very enthusiastic), but this one would kind of get everyone involved! Plus, early 60's clothing! Yes!
Here are my Betty inspirations:
I will not rest until I'm Betty!
I hope everyone has a great day!

The Trials and Tribulations of Hair: Favorite Haircuts

Oh, hair. How I love to hate you. Here are some envy-worthy hairstyles that I love!
Does anyone remember the 2009 Vanity Fair with Jessica Simpson on the cover? I adore her (and her hair in this issue!). It was very retro and pretty and I am in love with it. It's tempting me...
Of course, I have to add in my collection of Grace Kelly's impeccable hairstyles.

As y'all know, The Holiday is one of my all-time favorite movies, and Cameron Diaz's hair is to DIE for. It's the perfect length, it's cute, and it's super blonde. I'm definitely partial to short hair, as that's what I've had for basically my entire life...
Of course, I have to add in my collection of Grace Kelly's impeccable hairstyles.
Even though I don't watch Mad Men (my parents do), I just adore Betty Draper (January Jones). I love her clothes, her (ex) husband (Jon Hamm!) and her hair. Her character is basically an imitation of Grace Kelly, but still!!
This is Camilla Belle. She's an actress, even though she's never been in anything, but her style is fantastic and her hair always looks great. She was part of the "long bob" movement, but now she's growing out her hair. Either way, I want it!
Have a great weekend everybody!

Equestrian Style
Posted by admin

One of my favorite kind of "preppy styles" is the equestrian look. I used to ride for about 4 years but it took up a ton of time that I didn't have so I had to give it up. But, since then, I have become even more obsessed with the riding look and horses. I work at a barn for disabled children over the summer, so I get my horse fix in then, but the wintertime definitely calls for the equestrian style.
I love, love, LOVE this picture. It's of Gisele Bundchen and her sister, and I love their clothing. Of course, you really couldn't wear this outfit unless you actually were a horseback rider, but a girl can dream.
Speaking of Grace Kelly, this is a picture of her in an old-English equestrian get-up in the movie, "The Swan".
Who doesn't love Betty Draper's wardrobe? She is played by January Jones in the fabulous show, "Mad Men".
Now, get ready for the huge collection of Ralph Lauren pictures I have involving equestrian style...
I love this outfit! It's very preppy, in my opinion. I would kill for the riding boots, and I adore the bag and the scarf!
This is from the Ralph Lauren Spring 2008 collection. It's theme was centered around a horse race, and it had a couple of jockey inspired outfits, as shown above.
The two ads above were from the 2008 Blue Label collection and it is still my favorite Blue Label collection to date. I love the polos, the boots, the accessories, the styling, everything about these looks. When I was in 8th grade, I had to do a yearlong project that "proves a point", and I chose how Ralph Lauren revolutionized fashion. At the end of the year, I did a fashion show with all of my friends and I wore the "Blue Label Equestrian" outfit. I remember that I wore a mens blue oxford button down, a scarf with horses on it around my neck, jodphers, and my friend's tall riding boots. Things never change!
Also, I created a Polyvore account so I can show my outfits heading into the new school year. Here's the link, and I hope everyone has a fantastic day!!
