What's in my Bag: School Edition
Posted by admin
on 3:00 AM
Since I go to school 5 days a week for almost 9 months a year, the only bag that I am super attached to is my school tote bag. I don't use a backpack, and I haven't since I was in 5th grade; I am a total tote bag girl! I change the bag every couple of weeks so that I don't get bored with the print or pattern, but I consistently have the following items in my school bag.
Currently, I'm using an L. L. Bean madras tote bag. I didn't want to go all-out bright colors too soon (it's only the beginning of April!), so this pretty print is great! It's a great size, though the shoulder straps are a tiny bit short. My favorite tote bags to use for school are from Vineyard Vines, L.L. Bean, and Lilly Pulitzer.
Here is the inside of my bag!
I have some text books and 2 binders, along with my favorite pencil case. I always carry tons of pens and highlighters around with me so I am never unprepared.
I mostly use my favorite pens, planner, and my folders. It's so much easier to use folders so that I don't have to go back to my locker after every class!!
Sorry if the pink and green blinds y'all.....I am truly obsessed!!
Have a great day!!

Dressing for Winter Formal
Posted by admin
on 4:17 PM
Hi y'all!! Sorry I've been MIA for the past week, I honestly couldn't think of any post ideas!! But I'm back!! To catch y'all up, I turned 18 last Tuesday and it was so much fun. I had a great time and I'm happy to be one year older!! I also had a huge charity concert on Saturday night where I sang my first solo!! It was sooo fun and terrifying but I loved it!!
This weekend, I have my last winter formal dance!! It's kind of sad, since I've been to every dance my school offered since 6th grade...but I can't wait to dance and have fun with my friends.
I'm wearing the Lilly Pulitzer Evelyn Dress. I've never worn it before, but I love strapless dresses and black is always flattering!!
My brother gave me this necklace for my birthday and I'm going to wear it with the dress.
I'm not exactly sure which shoes I'm going to be wearing, but most likely sparkly silver or black heels!!
What do y'all think? I'm going to take a ton of pictures of the night's festivities so I'll post them after the dance!!
Have a great day!!

Update: College Week
Posted by admin
on 5:32 PM
Dear Lord I'm going to have a heart attack sometime this week because I'm finally hearing back from colleges!! Early decision/early action responses are sent and my entire class is dying. Everyone is freaking out and I can't handle it!! There have been so many good acceptances but the rejections for my friends are heartbreaking!! There are not that many people in my grade but everyone still applied early to at least 1 school!! I'M SO NERVOUS!!
Most people find out online, but there are still some schools that send letters. I hear back from 2 schools this week (1 EA, 1 ED) and my family and I legitimately can't breathe whenever we get the mail. Goodness gracious, pray that I make it through this week!
Thank goodness that this is also the last week before Christmas break. All of the seniors have decorations in our hallway and I can't wait to decorate it! Tomorrow I have a big Christmas concert at a church not too far away with my school's A Capella singing group, so I'm really excited about that. On Monday I have a Christmas party with my advisory group (a small group of students from the high school who meet with a teacher during lunch on Monday's), and Tuesday I have a Mexican Fiesta themed senior lunch. Thursday is D-Day because of college-decision-reasons, and Friday is the best day of the week! It's a free dress day, so everyone wears Christmas-y themed outfits! There's also a big assembly with the upper and middle school where all the seniors sit on our stage and our theater teacher reads "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" with our head of school. Then we sing "The 12 Days of Christmas" with the 6 grades singing different parts!! It's so much fun and I can't believe I'm going to be one of the students sitting on stage!! My senior year is already 1/2 way over!!!
Also, for the first time in forever, I'm not leaving for Jackson Hole once school gets out! Now my family and I have a couple of days to relax and then head over to ski and celebrate Christmas! What are y'all doing for Christmas Break?
I know a lot of y'all have exams this week...good luck!! I hope they're not too horrible!!
Have a great day!!

The Pajama Game
Posted by admin
on 6:00 AM
This week is the final Tech Week (commonly known as "hell week") for my school's fall musical, The Pajama Game!! I cannot believe our preparation is finally coming to an end, for the musical will run for 2 nights and 1 matinee this weekend. It has been so much fun and it's very sad that it is my last high school production. I will be at the theater every night this week until 9:30 for tech rehearsals, dinners, run throughs, costume fittings, as well as trying to squeeze in some time for homework and sleep. It's a crazy time but it's so worth it!!
The Pajama Game is an adorable musical about a strike at a pajama factory in the 1950's. It sounds boring, but it's actually really upbeat and fun!! It was on Broadway, and then it was made into a movie with Doris Day as the female lead, Babe.
Have y'all heard of the Pajama Game? What are y'all doing this week? Let me know!!
I hope everyone has a great day!!

Senior Year School Supplies!!
Posted by admin
on 12:50 PM
The most fun part of going back to school is definitely buying all the adorable school supplies!! Last year was my first year of having super girly and preppy supplies. Now it's time for my last year of high school and I'm going all out!!
I cannot wait to get my new planner!! I wasn't too wild about all the prints they had offered for the Lilly Pulitzer agendas this year, but I'm really happy with the one I chose (it's called Luscious). I love filling out planners so I'm really excited about filling it up with senior parties and college visits!!
I'M SO EXCITED FOR THIS. Last year I carried around my ginormous pink Vanderbilt Camelbak (to the point where the top is kind of falling apart), and this year I get to use the Lilly Pulitzer Eco Water Bottle!! I love, love, love it!!
I'm going to take diligent notes (so I can get in to college...) with my favorite Lilly highlighters!!
I'm using a Lilly large notebook for my math notes....
Ahh I love all of these prints!! I have the Lilly pencils from last year but the prints shown above are so much fun!!
Connecticut can get very, very cold in the winter and my lifesaver is my Lilly thermos. Last January when I got my car, everyone laughed at how I would trudge up from the junior parking lot with my Lilly tote bag, pink water bottle, and Lilly thermos!! It's definitely a back to school essential when you go to school in the north!!
My favorite pens in the entire world are the pink Breast Cancer awareness pens from Staples.
I'm trying to find the perfect bag to carry all my back to school goodies in, and I'm probably going to use one of the Lilly tote bags that we got from the huge summer sale last year.
I'm using my favorite pink binders as well.
Lastly, I'm using a Lilly pencil case!!
What are y'all using for back to school? Anything else I should add to my list? Let me know!!
Have a fantastic day!!

Junior Switch Day
Posted by admin
on 3:15 PM
Every year during the last week of classes, my school has "junior switch day". Basically, it's when the girls dress like boys and the boys dress like the girls. I have been waiting since freshman year to switch and today was the actual day!! It was a lot of fun.
I wore my brother's Lilly tie, yellow oxford (which could have been a dress...), pink shorts, needlepoint belt, and madras baseball cap.

Awkward moment with my friend!
Everyone kept joking about me and my friend EW being typical frat bros. It was so much fun, especially to see the guys in our school kilts!!
I can't believe this year has only 1 more week left and then I'm a senior!! It's absolute crazy!! Yesterday it was senior skip day and all of the juniors got to park in the senior lot. It was the best feeling and it definitely felt like we were the oldest in the school then!!
Have a great day everyone!!

Into the Woods!

on 8:19 AM
Friday night was the opening night of my school's spring musical, Into the Woods!! We have 1 more shows (this afternoon), and I am having so much fun. I've spent this entire week at school until late at night trying to get the show ready, and it turned out so well for the past two nights!! Here are some of the pictures from the after party at our director's house:
And some from backstage...

This Weekend
Posted by admin
on 2:54 PM
I'm really excited for this weekend because my school is hosting two fun events on Friday and Saturday night. On Friday, two boys in my class are throwing a techno concert...it sounds weird, I know. I'm not even that into "techno", but all my friends are going and I hope it will be fun. Unfortunately, I don't know what to wear, and since everything I own is Lilly Pulitzer, I think I'm going to have a hard time. I'll probably end up wearing jeans and something pink!
Then, on Saturday night, I am SO excited because the junior and senior classes are having a Murder Mystery party! It's a bi-annual event for upperclassmen, and I've been looking forward to it for years. The theme is "roaring 20's" so I'll be all prepared in my flapper gear. Last week, we were handed our character packets (for those who signed up) and I'm Chirp, this coat check girl who stands at the door. It sounds like a bad part, but she's involved somehow with the main guy (who's played by one of my favorite seniors). The character packet says that I should wear some time of "uniform" but I honestly don't know what to do for that, so I think I'm going to wear this really pretty black Ralph Lauren dress. It's like a shift dress, but it's sparkly and kind of 20's-esque.
I'll try to post pictures from this weekend! I'm always really bad about getting people to take pictures of me during events but now I'll be inspired to!! Have a great day y'all!!

Winter Formal Predicament
Posted by admin
on 9:31 AM
I am currently on winter break, and while it's lovely that school is out and I have unreal amounts of free time, I can't stop thinking about what I should wear to my schools "Winter Formal". It's the nicest dance of the year, and the junior class (my class) is hosting it. Now, there is usually a theme, but this year it's undecided. I have 2 perfect dresses regardless, from, of course, Lilly Pulitzer. The problem is that I don't know which one to wear!
I love this dress. It's the Sophia Dress from Lilly, and it's perfect in every way. Unfortunately, it has some competition with the next dress, shown below. I love the print, and the pink, AND the glitter-y bits, but I just don't know!
I got this dress shortly after last year's Winter Formal, and it's one of my favorite dresses ever. I really like how it's almost a corset around the midsection, and I'm almost positive that I would get it shortened. My friends say I should wear this dress, yet my mother says I should wear the other dress.
Despite the choice of the dress, I'm still wearing Enzo Angiolini sparkly heels.
A whole other issue is the hair and makeup. What should I do? What dress should I pick? Let me know!!

Homecoming Day 2
Posted by admin
on 12:35 PM
Compared to my outfit success yesterday, today was not as exciting. The theme was jungle, and I had previously planned on wearing Lilly exercise wear so I could be a flamingo. I then realized that the clothes were too tight for anything other than exercise, and that I would freeze. So, I went the other path of wearing a pink Vineyard Vines skirt and black tights for the same "flamingo affect". Regardless, people asked what I was all day so that I could say uneasily "I'm...a flamingo?". No success.
In other words, today was basically a chance to ignore regular school uniform and bring my preppy weekend wear to school.
Tomorrow is red and blue day (our school colors), and I have yet to even look in my closet for a cute outfit. Wish me luck and I'll post the outfit later!
Have a great day everyone!

Back to School p. 2
Posted by admin
on 12:38 PM
This time next week, I will be melting away in my school with no air-conditioning. Yes, it's nice to see friends after being away all summer, and yes, I'll have something better to do than web-shopping and tanning (unfortunately), but it's still school. This year is going to be ridiculously hard, not only because it's my junior year and SAT's are in the spring; I'm taking on 3 honors classes and 2 AP's. I'm going to blog as much as I possibly can, though! I love this blogging hobby!
When I was in WY, I found the cutest pink binders.
My math notebook.
Also, my Lilly agenda came last week! I love it! I'm so OCD that I've already filled in every school event until the end of school in June. I was really surprised, though, when I saw that it went through December 2011! I'm going to be using this planner for a while! The inside is really cute, too, because there are tongue twisters for every month and some Lilly prints that I haven't seen before!
Cover page for September 2010
The Inside
The inside cover with my name and (hand-written) schedule! I have a problem.
Stickers!
Lilly Pulitzer highlighters
Vineyard Vines Patchwork Classic Tote
I love this bag. I was originally going to use a Lilly bag, but I thought I would tone the colors down just a little bit with this. It's perfect for school!
This is a magnetic notepad and pen (with "Hannah" on it!) that I found at K-Mart in Wyoming. Usually super cutesy accessories like this aren't my thing, but I actually think it'll be perfect for my locker!
These are two adorable locker accessories that I found at The Container Store. The one on the left is a magnetic pencil-holder-thing, and the one on the right is just a paper holder. I'm trying to be intensely organized this year because my locker usually ends up looking like a tornado hit it one month into the school year!
I covered my laptop last spring with stickers from my old Lilly planner!
I hope everyone who is starting a new school year, whether it be high school or college, has a fantastic year! Who else has Lilly school-goodies? Let me know!
